Intern Program
Paddington Station Preschool is proud to sponsor Stanley British Primary School interns each year. Paddington provides an opportunity for interns to experience Early Childhood Education in a play-based environment. Through an understanding of social and emotional development, interns learn to use educational building blocks to help children become life-long learners.
Each year, up to 30 teacher interns participate in the Stanley British Primary Teacher Preparation Program. Intern teachers work full-time in the classroom alongside mentor teachers in a junior partnership role. They are given two semester-long placements over the year in private and/or public school settings with two different mentors. Interns at Paddington are also given the choice to seek a teaching license in either Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
Interns gain an understanding of experience-based, developmentally appropriate education. They take on steadily increasing responsibilities as their skills and confidence grow. Intern teachers start the year working with small groups of children and end the year capable of managing the entire class.
With ongoing feedback and support from their mentor teachers and educational advisors, interns participate in all aspects of the teaching process. They learn to help children with a wide range of abilities and share in celebrating diversity within the classroom.
