Letter from Director Ann Solomon

September 8, 2009

Dear Parents,

We are all looking forward to a happy and healthy year at Paddington. In order to accomplish this goal we must all work together. We have all heard a lot about the flu in the media. The flu is easily spread from person to person and school age children are among the groups most affected. We are taking all of the precautions very seriously here at Paddington since we want to keep the school open to students and functioning in a normal manner during the flu season. We need your help to do this.  If a child exhibits signs of the flu we will be calling you to come and pick them up right away.

Here are a few things we can all do to minimize the spread of the virus:

  • Remind your children to wash their hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Remind your children not to share personal items like drinks, food and to cough or sneeze into a tissue or the crook of their arm.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of the flu, which include fever, cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache and feeling very tired. Vomiting and diarrhea may also occur.
  • Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever without using fever-reducing medicine.

With your help and that of our staff we are hopeful we can keep Paddington a healthy place for everyone.

Thank you,
Ann Solomon
