Estelle was appointed Business Manager at Paddington Station in September 2013. She came to us from Los Angeles, where she was the Business Manager of Pilgrim School for seven years. Prior to that time, she worked in school business management at the American Overseas School of Rome for 11 years and St. Mary’s Academy here in Denver for two years. She is a licensed certified public accountant in Colorado. She has Master’s degrees in accounting and counseling psychology. Estelle and her husband Larry were delighted to return to the Denver community after a hiatus of 18 years. You might find them walking in the neighborhood, or in one of the parks with their grandchildren.
I graduated college with a degree in math and promptly took a job as a social worker, since in the “old” days women were either teachers or social workers. Eventually, I went back to school and got a master’s in counseling psychology and worked as a school counselor for the next eleven years, while studying for a doctorate in special education administration. But I got restless.
I enrolled in another graduate program and eventually completed a master’s in accounting and passed the CPA exam. After nine years in public accounting, I decided that I wanted to go back to schools. I found the perfect job to combine my love for math and education – school business manager. Since 1995 I have worked in four different schools in that capacity. I planned to retire in 2013, but Deb convinced me to come to Paddington on a part-time basis. I have never regretted that decision.
Paddington is a happy place and it is a pleasure to work here. I love to hear the cheerful voices inside the building, parents and children alike. The faculty and staff are fabulous. I only wish I could bring my grandchildren here (they live too far away!)
