Carlita Brinnich, Squirrel Nutkin T/TH & Tom Kitten Wednesday

Carlita became a teacher at Paddington in 2017. As a Latin American native, Carlita loves Spanish language, Latin culture and more than anything teaching and working with children in both languages. She was born and raised in Bolivia, South America and received much of her formal education and training in Cochabamba-Bolivia. Carlita earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from San Simón University and in 2017 she completed her Master’s degree in Culturally, Linguistically Diverse Education at Adams State University. Carlita has worked with children for over ten years. After she moved to Denver in 2012, she began teaching Spanish classes and she worked as a full-time preschool lead teacher at the YMCA. Her students inspire her and make her laugh. She always encourages her students to work hard and never give up. Carlita spent her intern year at Paddington in the Johnny Townmouse classroom. In her free time, she enjoys dancing her traditional dances and participating in different parades in Colorado.

I’m a teacher and this is my dream.

The “why” motivates me to jump out of bed in the mornings, because I believe my background is valuable
to my students. I enjoy helping them grow and become who they want to be.

I have a story to tell. There are a lot of students who believe they can’t become who they want to be.
I tell them that I didn’t know English as a high school student. I’m eager to learn from my students.

Life teaches me that no matter what obstacle you will face in your life, and no matter how many
people tell you that you can’t do something, you CAN!!! Dreams are possible.

That is why I’m a teacher who inspires and supports their students. I transmit enthusiasm for what I do, promote
meaningful learning, foster student autonomy by inviting them to participate in the learning process, encourage creativity,
accept my errors, and encourage students that errors are a part of the learning process and must be accepted naturally.

Jaime Escalante said, “Life is not about how many times you fall down. It’s about how many times you get back up.”
Thankfully, I’m here and able to achieve my dream.
