What is Paddington to you?
I started working at Paddington as a favor, one year was all I could commit to, and then I was off to figure out what I was going to do with my life. Ahem. Twenty-two years later I have made countless batches of playdough, read hundreds (maybe thousands) of beautiful picture books, ruined many many pairs of jeans with paint and sharpies and grass stains. I have laughed and smiled so much over the years at Paddington that my wrinkles are proof that a job can be fun. I have had the honor and privilege of working with children in a space where they are valued for who they are and all of the unique magnificence they bring to the world. At Paddington I have consistently worked with the best and the brightest in the field of early childhood education – seriously, the talent that resides in these red brick walls is humbling. Paddington, for me, is that unexpected rainbow, you know the one that is so incredible, so magical, you almost can’t believe that it’s real. If every person had a Paddington in their life the world would absolutely be a kinder, gentler, more beautiful place.
When I’m not at Paddington….
I love to create! Sometimes that means baking yummy cookies, or sewing a costume for my daughter, or building block structures with my other daughter, or gardening. I also love to read; children’s picture books are my weakness.
