Megan Simmons

Megan joined the Paddington team in 2014. Since 2005, Megan has worked exclusively with young children in a preschool setting and has a degree in early childhood from Ashworth College. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where she lived until moving to Denver in February 2014. Megan loves being outside and exploring all Colorado has to offer. With over a decade of experience teaching young children, Megan’s passion is setting a positive foundation for learning and individual development.

I teach because I value the depth of play.  Play is the most natural way for children to learn.  It allows the whole child to
be nurtured.  From acquiring language and social skills to developing an empathetic mindset and allowing their imagination
to grow; play is a child’s work.

Throughout the school year I am always reminded of one of my favorite quotes by Mr. Rogers:
“When children pretend, they are using their imaginations to move beyond the bounds of reality.  A stick can be a wand, a sock can be a puppet, a small child can be a superhero.”

I am blessed with the gift of teaching and the opportunity to spend my days discovering hidden treasures in the water table, squishing playdough to create animal tracks or riding on the back of a tricycle to sell ice cream to the nearest friend.  All the while, I am setting a positive foundation for learning and individual development.  It doesn’t get any better than that!
